Title of the Course
The course shall be called BCA - Bachelor of Computer Application.

Duration of the Course
The Course of Study shall be 6 Semesters, each Semester from 1 to 6 spanning for four months.

Eligibility for Admission
A candidate with PUC or 10+2 or equivalent there to with minimum of 35% of marks in the aggregate of all subjects including languages is eligible for admission to BCA course. Relaxation to SC/ST, Group I extended as per University norms.

Attendance
A Candidate shall be considered to have undergone the prescribed Course of study if the candidate has attended at least 75% of the classes in each subject (Theory/Lab). Otherwise the candidate has to repeat the Semester

Scheme of Study
The course is of Six Semesters .Semester I to VI are for Course work. The project can be carried out either in the Institution or at an Industry/Research Organisation. The guide will be one of the faculty members of the Department, approved by the Head of the Department. If the Project work is carried out at an Industry/Research Organisation, a Co-guide from the Industry/Research Organisation, approved by the Head of the Department will supervise and guide the Project.

Scheme of Examination

  1. In each semester (from I to VI) a student shall register for all courses of a semester as prescribed.
  2. A marks of 20 will form the Internal Assessment marks for each of the theory subject for which 2 tests, each of 60 minutes duration shall be conducted spread over the span in a Semester. There is no separate minimum requirement of Internal Assessment marks in a theory subject.
  3. The Internal Assessment marks in Practical course is based on performance in the Laboratory and approach in solving the problem - awareness, progress, creative development etc. The Internal Assessment marks for Project work of a candidate is based on the solving ability, awareness, progress, involvement and is awarded by the Guide, Co-guide and Head of the Department.
  4. Those who fail to get 50% of aggregate of Internal Assessment marks of Theory & Practical (i.e. 70 out of 140) will have to repeat the semester along with the regular candidate of that Semester.

Promotion to next Semester

  1. An academic year consists of odd and even semester of that year. A candidate is eligible for promotion to next academic year (starting with an ODD semester provided the candidate has not failed in more than 4 subjects of two semesters of the just previous academic year and has completed all the examinations lower to the previous year. However, there is total mobility from odd to even semesters of any particular academic year. For example, a candidate seeking admission to 5th Semester should have passed all subjects upto and including 2nd semester and should not have failed in more than 4 subjects of 3rd and 4th Semester put together.
  2. Candidates not covered under 8(a) are not eligible for promotion and will be required to discontinue their Sciences till they qualify under regulation 8(a).

Declaration of Results

  1. For a pass in a semester, a candidate shall secure a minimum of 40% of the marks prescribed for a subject in the University Examination (Theory, Practical, Project Work).
  2. Provision is made for rejection of results of all the subjects of Semester only once, if the candidate decides to reappear for all the subjects. Such rejected should made within 30 days of announcement of results, by making a written application, through the Head of the institution. If such rejection is in respect of the results of all the subjects of one semester he/she will also have the option to repeat his Sciences for that semester and earn fresh sessional marks as well.
  3. The results of any semester will be declared as pass or final as the case may be in accordance with regulation 9(a).
  4. To be eligible for award of the BCA degree, a candidate shall have completed the scheme of training and passed in all subject of the Course.
  5. Further to regulation 9(a), the following classification shall be made for the declaration of results of each semester
    i) FIRST CLASS: A candidate who secures 60% and above of the aggregate at the first
       attempt of any semester examination will be declared to have Passed in I class subject to
       regulation 9(a).
    ii) SECOND CLASS: A candidate who secures a minimum of 50% aggregate at the first
        attempt of any semester examination will be declared to have Passed in II class subject to
        regulation 9(a).
    ii) PASS CLASS: A candidate who secures a minimum of 40% aggregate of any semester will
        be declared to have Passed in Pass class subject to regulation 9(a).

Classification of Result

  1. Further to regulation 9(a) and 9(e), the names of all successful candidates securing First Class at their first attempt shall be arranged in order of merit and only first TEN ranks shall be declared.
  2. For the purpose of declaring First Class & Second Class in the case of failed candidates passing at any subsequent semester examination, the actual marks obtained in all subjects of the course is considered.
    Those who failed in any subject and passed subsequently are not entitled for rank declaration and they will be declared as I class or II class as the case may be.

Benefits of Exemption
Candidates who fail by not satisfying 9(a) are exempted from reappearing in those subject/s in which they got 40% or more in the University Examination.
